Document Summary

Learning objectives chapter 20: reading, read the entire chapter, with the following exception: Skip the subsection entitled concentration cells in section 20. 6 (i. e. , read all of section 20. 6 except for the section about concentration cells). Skip section 20. 7, batteries and fuel cells. You should be able to use the formula to solve for g if i give you cell potential (or vice versa). I will provide the nernst equation on the exam. You need to be able to use this equation to solve for ecell under nonstandard conditions. I will provide the relationship between the standard cell potential and the equilibrium constant on the test. I will provide faraday"s constant on the test. You should be able to use that, current, a balanced equation, and molar masses to calculate the amount of time it takes for a certain amount of substance to be produced in an electrolytic cell.
