Metronome: a mechanical or electrical device that ticks beats at any desired tempo. Accent: making some beats more emphatic (more intense) louder than others (patterns of strong and weak beats help beat keep track of time) Broadest sense: general way music unfolds in time, main driving focus in time. Specific sense: a rhythm : the specific arrangement of long and short notes (durations) in a piece of music. Measure: each occurrence of a repeated pattern of beats with a principal strong beat followed by one or more weaker beat.
