Monophyly: a group of organisms which forms a clade, meaning that it consists of an ancestor and all its descendants. Taxa: a taxonomic group of any rank (e. g. , species, family, class) Last common ancestor (lca): the final evolutionary link between two related groups. Crown group: all of the taxa that come after a major speciation event. Stem group: all of the taxa in a clade before a speciation even. Prey: eyes on sides of head, to better survey the landscape. Predator: eyes on front of face, to enhance depth perception and focus on prey. Binocular vision: both eyes working as a coordinated team; a result of orbital formality. Stereoscopic vision: each eye captures its own view and the two separate images are sent to the brain for processing, when the two images arrive simultaneously in the back of the brain, they are united into one picture. Separates us from a lot of group of mammals.
