ACSM Prescreening Guidelines Medical Clearance for Exercise
1. Not regularly active (>3x/week, <30 min, 3+ MET)
a. No disease or symptoms start light or moderate PA
b. Known disease or symptoms of disease medical clearance prior to any PA
participation
2. Currently active (>3x/week, 30 min, 3+MET, 3 months)
a. No disease or symptoms moderate or vigorous PA is ok
b. Known disease moderate PA is ok; medical clearance for vigorous PA
c. Symptoms discontinue exercise and seek medical clearance
