Psychopathology mental illness studies in the area of clinical psychology. Nimh study: 56 million us adults meet criteria for mental disorder in 1996 many mental disorders are not really rare only 25% of these people receive any type of treatment. Gad symptoms must last at least 6 months physical arousal increased heart rate/blood pressure body tries to fight anxiety by trying to remain in homeostasis. Definition: persistent, disproportionate fear of specific object or situation that presents no real danger. These fears interfere with daily behaviors and life. Causes mix of biological and psychological causes biological: genetic component.
