Interest in wcc is on the rise currently. Economic crisis in 08 and the role of bankers in causing it. As consumers you have rights to not be hurt by those who sell us products. Popular preoccupation with public health: wcc an umbrella concept. Bank fraud, bribery, stealing from the job, antitrust violations, etc. Behavior similar to wcc is found throughout recorded history. 1st regulated wcc was marketplace offenses in early england. Engrossing: wholesale purchasing for the purpose of reselling at a monopoly price. Forestalling: selling substandard products and charging excessive prices. Exploitation of the poor and of the consumers moved into the shadows (cid:271)ei(cid:374)g (cid:272)a(cid:373)ouflaged (cid:271)y . Production happens behind closed doors, away from the consumers (not a neighborhood artisan like before) which allows for people to do shady shit. Diffusion of the inflicted harm: mass scales of production leads to mass scale of harm.
