BIOL 102 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Rh Blood Group System, R.W.D. Molenbeek, Mendelian Inheritance
Document Summary
By eating healthy, exercising, loving more, and managing stress you can change your life. Reverse heart disease, increase blood flow to brain, increase brain cells, and even change how your genes are expressed. A high heritability value for a trait does not automatically mean that most of the difference between two individuals is genetic could be environmental. Genes have a strong influence on even complex traits. But independent assortment of multiple genes with multiple alleles produces a large number of phenotypes. For quantitative traits, it is difficult to predict the phenotypes of the children from the phenotype of the parents. Review these laws in textbook: law of segregation, law of independent assortment, law of dominance. Incomplete dominance: a heterozygous expresses an intermediate blended phenotype. Codominance: the heterozygote"s phenotype is a combination of two fully expressed traits. Polygenic traits: traits that are affected by the interaction among many genes. Quantitative traits that vary continuously depending on genotype and environment.
