Rebels united over the idea of peace, the golden age. 220 ce military generals depose the last han emperor. After the han, there was fragmentation and conflict. It was a small agricultural village in the mediterranean. Romans expel tarquinius superbus, didn"t want another king. Rome continuously fought with neighbors to hold the city. Italy attacked rome in late 4th century bce. 2nd cen bce, rome was the most powerful empire. Censors- 2 (elected every 5 years in office for 18 months)- census. Consuls- 2 leads army, presides over assemblies (min. age of 43 to serve as a consul) Tribunes of the plebs- 10 representatives of the plebs. Pietas: duty towards gods, family, friends and country *biggest virtue* Legio vi ferrata- roman legion from the first century to ca. third century ce. Enlists men with no property into roman army.
