Decreased drug & hormone metabolism so drugs stay in their system longer. Lfts don"t change, the enzyme breakdown does: mouth. Decreased sense of smell, making them not want to eat. Decreased volume of saliva atrophy of gingival tissue. Dry oral mucosa, making it difficult to swallow. Chronic progressive disease of the liver characterized by extensive degeneration & destruction of the liver parenchymal cells, irreversible fibrosis & degeneration of the liver. Caused by diffuse fibrosis (scarring) & nodular regeneration r/t hypoxia of the liver.
