According to marx and engle, the 5th stage of society is communism/socialism. Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law. If we overthrow the government and accept that we"re all equal, once we establish equilibrium, the state will wither away because humans, at base, want to support each other and be supported. False consciousness: that our own failure is our own fault for not putting forth the effort. That others are succeeding more than us and that it is because they are putting forth more effort. The american dream is created by the bourgeoisie and perpetuated by false consciousness among the labor class. Has increased from just the material benefits to more abstract things. We agree with the wealthy that their version of success is the right version of success. Multi dimensional view of class: class, status (job, career, or name gives prestige), party (power) During the civil rights era, all three aspects were relevant.
