Faith a human act, a graced act, a response to god. Revelation leads to the response of faith. Faith is the interior attitude of the person who believes. Biblical words which we translate by faith have similar roots: firmness or confidence; to be convicted. To believe : used when we are not certain, or we are speaking of a loyalty based on interpersonal relationship. Biblical sense is closer to the second. Gen 15. 6 fundamental text and first appearance of to believe" in the ot. Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. Is possible to the extent that god makes himself known. The person sent is to be believed. His message is consistent with preceding interventions. God gives signs to demonstrate the messenger"s credentials. In accepting the mediation of the messenger believers enter the community of faith. If you do not stand firm in faith, you shall not stand at all.
