Document Summary

Social psychology -the presence of other people has influence on our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Dominant response behavior is enhanced (something you think you are good at you tend to do more) Weak response performance is reduced/diminished (something you don"t think you"re good at) Bystander effect (version of social loafing) - series of experiments done where some actors were dressed as a business person and suddenly fell over and collapsed on the ground. The question was if people would stop to see if they were okay. The more people who were around, the less likely it was that someone would go check on them. Power conformity people were seated around a table and were told that this is an experiment involving perception. They were asked which line was longer, everyone said a when it was obvious. Another example: people in a room and one sees some smoke, they look up to see if anyone else notices it.
