Rule specifies behavior to perform in certain situations (what we should do). Norm most frequent behaviors (not a should). System (biology) set of interrelated parts which come together to form a unified and coherent whole. Example: human body, human cell, circulatory system, etc. Social systems (communication) groupings and pairings of people. Explanatory mechanism: rules and norms corporation, etc. Seek to account for the existence of communicative events or actions on the basis of functional requisites associated with a system. Explanatory mechanism: parts of system are trying to perform functional requirements.
