CMD 272 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Joint Capsule, Vomer, Synovial Fluid
Document Summary
Cmd 272 - lecture 3 - joints and muscles. Can be classified on a functional or anatomical basis. Bones joined by a thin connective tissue. Single plate of bone is inserted into a cleft. Insertion of vomer bone into fissure between maxillae and palatine bones. Root of a tooth is held in place. Found in between the tibia, fibula, and middle ear. Found in the vertebrae of the spine. Bone edges are united by interposing hyaline cartilage. Skull at birth is a different shape than an adult"s. Capsule surrounds the articulating surfaces of the joint. There is a lubricating synovial fluid within the capsule no tissue like the other joints. Articulating surfaces are alternatively concave on convex. Movement in one place back and forth. Oval-shaped articular facet fits into elliptical shaped cavity. Small joints in the middle of fingers. Where bones of fingers articulate with the hand. Round ball-like end of bone fits into a cup-like cavity.
