Hdf 201 - lecture 20 - death, dying, and bereavement. Also known as cardiopulmonary death no heartbeat, no breathing. No movement or action that arouses activity. No breathing for at least one hour. No response to actions that inflict pain. Electroencephalogram (eeg) is flat for at least ten minutes. No change in any of the above after 24 hours. Removing any medical equipment that"s keeping the individual alive. Ending life before death from illness/disease would occur. How individuals communicate matters pertaining to their death. Individual is authorized to speak on behalf of the dead and dying. Believe that dead can come back to life via magic or medicine. Understand death as universal and permanent by age nine. Should i marry? , should i have children? , etc. Focusing on how much time is left. More realistic view of death compared to middle adulthood. Want to know how much time is left.
