(penn, yale, and harvard were the first to implement a modernist curriculum). Kahn was educated in the beaux arts curriculum. (he was trained in the classical method; used sketches, drawing, water colors) He was burned by charcoal, but he liked to draw with it, so his drawings were majorly through charcoal and watercolor. He travelled in europe (prize from penn) for a year.
