Document Summary

You can monitor change in intracellular ca. Signaling molecule can activate different types of cascades. Signals can also activate inhibitory pathway which will inhibit the activity of a different signaling pathway. Same molecule can activate in brain and create a neural pathway of signaling. Can go in and out of the membrane with minimal difficulty. When hormone binds to hormone receptor it creates complex. Receptor can only go when it has signal and vice versa. Some complexes can interact with other signalling pathway. Binds to the cortisol receptor (has two parts, similar to hinge) The chaperone protein dissociates, and the complex can go into nucleus. Depend on the complexity and stability of system. Movement of electrons (changing the bonds) releases energy. Breaking a nonpolar bond to make a polar bond, the polar bond has less potential energy. Entropy: measure of degree of disorder in system. Have to keep a complex by putting more energy into it.
