Document Summary

Last lecture about the general what"s inside the cell. Some proteins will end up in the membrane of a different organelles. Responsible for the production and functional maturation of proteins and some polysaccharides. No ribosomes associated with membrane of golgi. Transport vesicles (sacs surrounded by plasma membrane) directionality. The transport vesicles move to one side coming from the er. They are received on the cis side. Cisternae look very similar to that of er. Little purple dots are proteins that are making their way through. Bud off cisternae of er, have proteins within them, and then they fuse with cis face of golgi. Vesicles get budded off on trans face and the proteins are biologically active. Eventually fuses with plasma membrane to be released. Can also remain in vesicles in the cell. Vesicles that contain enzymes that will digest proteins and cell components. Remain in the cytoplasm as soluble proteins.
