Document Summary

Always use reward much more often than punishment! Because otherwise, people will not be willing to go above and beyond the minimum requirement. Do not relate it on the person, focus on the behavior only. Also necessary to show them what is a good example. For example, show a student how a stellar paper can look like. But this doesn"t always work bc sometimes when the goal is hard to achieve, people are just gonna give up totally. The key here is to find an achievable goal that can be measured. Show how to do it properly, because when people are confused about how to do it. They might pretend they don"t want to do it because of protecting their ego. Know that effort does not necessary result in performances, and so make sure to let the worker actually see the link between these. Also make workers believe that doing the performance can lead to a desirable outcome.
