Leonard maltin: film shot in 27 days. Preston l. holmes: begins with nate parker (passion project; worked/developed it for years: prepared as any other director he"s ever worked with. Kevin turan: nate had every shot already imagined in his head. Lm: different to be the director/control freak and also the calm actor. Aja naomi king: calmness is key to creative process. Nate brought his acting teacher: acting teacher would give him feedback about whether or not he needed to re-take a shot, surrounded himself with the best in the business, already spent over a decade on this project. Very particular about keeping the time: threw out a rag because it looked too modern, examined aja"s costume carefully before shot to make sure it was perfect. Aja on the end of the film: momentum, crane rising -> shot rising as opposed to dropping with the hanging. Why? because it"s the end of the film.
