Corporate offices 1 and 2 appear to be next to each other even though they"re in 2 different cities. Sender puts an office address on the postcard and it shows up at the receiver (with some delay) Packets and switching: early 1960s: inter-computer communication, phone connections are reserved, kleinrock (ucla) Info broken into packets: message from a to b is sent as sequence of packets, packet switching connectionless , uses the capacity of links better, reservation. Sender and receiver are the only ones w/access to info being sent. If payload is too big, then the packet is split into smaller packets.
