CSCI 310 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Cocomo, Korean People'S Army, Single Person
Document Summary
Cost-estimation = prediction of the person-effort and the elapsed time of a project. Black box model = estimates given by cocomo. Small cycle at bottom b/c as you use it, you see how far off your estimates were. Features: multi-model coverage of different development sections, flexibility in size inputs, gives you increasingly more accurate estimates. Is used for a ton of different things. Provides a natural framework to identify high leverage productivity to estimate payoffs. Diseconomy of scale = constant plus a weighting factor times the summation of a bunch of scale factors (different characteristics of your project/team/development processes that affect how your software project will unfold) Anchor points = requirements are due in waterfall design, common process milestones around which cost and schedule budges are organized. Rely = required software reliability = measures the extent of how bad a software failure would be.
