Andrew neel: king kelly, previous movie; christine bashaw saw it and loved it. She had the rights to the book that the movie is based on (had it for 12 years) Then james franco got involved with it. They gave him the script & he sat on it for a while. He loved lord of the flies; decided to make it in a house. Middle of the film = horror film. An: mike and i went through and emphasized things that they thought were important/interesting. Brett had originally disappeared for a while/greater periods of time. An: makes movies that are about something. The whole movie is in service of the idea/message. The beginning is obvious: this film is about men. An was interested in masculinity and men"s problems. Wanted to investigate masculinity in a claustrophobic setting. An is brutally honest and likes to get up in people"s faces cinematically. S: elaborate on the intimacy of the movie.
