Purpose of worldviews: deined as a framework of mantal constructs w/ a cognitive and afective side (vertzberger, acts as an info-processsing system: worldviews lighten the burden of decision-making (vertzberger, made up of beliefs images perceptions assumptions values. Attitudes habits: determines which facts you accept & which beliefs you embrace. Cold war assumptions: ir as a pervasive power game, global system is a threat system, limited cooperation, international legal and moral restraints are inefective, emphasis on short term view of foreign policy.
