Lead: who what why when where how. Amplify/backup: focus on one of the 5w"s or h and give more information. Background: remainder of information - the less interesting information. The top of the inverted pyramid is the most important/most interesting information. Information becomes less important/interesting as you move down the pyramid. Should be no more than 10 words. Basically a summary of piece of writing. Should accurately and completely tell reader what you are writing: reader should know exactly what they"re reading. Treat heading like a regular sentence: capitalize first word and other proper nouns (the rest is lowercase) Everything must have a date line: location (city/state) and date. Boiler plate = about the company: always the same exact thing, about the organization, why have it: Tell reporters how great your organization is (best foot forward/best information about your company/organization)
