Goes on to illustrate first amendment- rejecting accommodationist views as inadequate. Accommodations: when the court system is adducting cases, they should be able to take some purely religious reasons into account. Some purely religious aspects should be taken into account. You are infringing upon the identities of other groups not associated with that religion you do and therefore are violating democratic multiculturalism. Appiah argues: once start letting in some purely religious considerations into policy making process, open the floodgate, there"s going to be no principal or reason to open up more. Already favoring ideology over the rest that are inconsistent with the rest. Law prevents other religion from even entering because christian doctrines prevent it. This is why accommodations of any form is not going to work.
