LIBR 100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Lithium Bromide, Google Search, Junk Food
Document Summary
In this module we will be taking about evaluating information resources. The evaluation criteria discussed can be used for most any information resource including books, articles, websites, and blogs. Information is being developed and disseminated at a dizzying pace. Information evaluation skills are necessary in order to sift out the good, the bad, and the down-right ugly. This is especially true for information found on the world wide web. It does not matter if the information is true, accurate, or reliable. If you are hoping for statistics but find someone"s opinion, you may wish to find another source. Date sometimes you will need information from a specific date range and sometimes you will just want to find the most current information about a topic possible. If you don"t see any information about author credentials or examine the front, back, and book jacket; look at the article to see if author qualifications are given.
