Hinduism: 3 religions born in india, hinduism, buddhism, sikhism, things of hinduism. No single text: hindu, sindh river- pronounced with h sound, so then the native people were called hindu"s i. e. called hindu-istan similar to pakistan, think of hinduism as family of traditions, attributes of hinduism, 1. ) What is dharma: maksha, liberation, release, freedom, by pursuing your dharma you can achieve maksha. Seeing the divine in all aspects of life i. e. brushing teeth, going to work, etc. Time: linear, precious/scarce, relative - absolute, goes in one direction, divide up time - minutes/seconds/hours, killing time/manipulating time, cyclical, all things run in a circle, seasons, birth and death, erosion, sun & moon, eating/sleeping. Karma & rebirth: birth/death/birth etc. until you reach maksha. Divine: polymorphic monotheism, believe in one god that can take many forms, avatar, any one of the forms god can take, can act as many avatars at one time, inclusive monotheism.
