By 1430, after 400 years in the valley of mexico, mexica makes an alliance: mexica and the triple alliance (mexico, tepanecas. a colnua) They created a confederacy of states, known as the aztec empire. The political structure of the aztec empire would be that the mexica would always be the head of the empire, but the mexica would inter-marry with other groups. They conquered the valley of mexico, but retained their kingdoms.
