Descendants are erebus (darkness) and nyx (night), hemera (day) and aether (air), and underworld dwellers such as the fates and hypnoes. Bad things being created first reflects pessimistic worldview of mortality. Later came gaia/ge (mother earth, mother nature) First chthonic deity {chthonic meaning from or relating to the earth} Cosmic force eros (erotic desire) appears and causes gaia and ouranos to relentlessly procreate.
