Wound - subset of, lesion caused by trauma. They didn"t know about bacteria: eating stuff that tends to heal wounds quicker. Primary lesions: discolored, nonpalpable: comes from disease, macula, -ae small spot. Not touchable, a spot: nodule (nodulus, -i, little knot; nodus, -i, knot) Elevated formed with fluid: vesicle, vesicula, -ae little bladder; vesica, -ae, bladder, bulla, ae - round swelling, an amulet, poison ivy, etc. Secondary lesions: caused by other reasons other than disease; e. g. scratching on diseased skin that caused breakage: keloid (kele - tumor, hermia, protrusion) scarring that looks like a tumor. Vascular lesions: telangioectasia - tel - angio - ectasia, telos - completion; end; purpose, tele - at a distance. Purpuric lesions: ecchymosis - outside fluid (blood) blood trying to move outside, chymos/chylos - humor, fluid. Know the common term: nevus: mole, verruca: wart. Celsus de medicina and skin diseases: words don"t really mean the same as what they mean now, vitiligo: white skin patches.
