Types: dispositional you"re shy everywhere, situational everyone of us has, it is not abnormal. Shy people love big classes, so they can sit in the back. Teachers are biased to like the kids that aren"t shy: occupational. For the same job shy people get lower starting salaries. Shy people don"t want to be promoted because social skills start mattering more: relational. Shy people stay in a relationship longer, and are less likely to break up in an unhappy relationship. Shy people don"t return things to stores because they have to make a case for themselves. Most people once that get to know you the shyness fades away. Shyness can have a genetic component identical twins who are both shy much more common than fraternal twins who are both shy: reinforcement model. Punishment ex. people tell you to shutup when you talk so you learn not to because you"re going to get shutdown.
