Outer ear: external auditory meatus occluded. Usually can do something medically to remediate the problem: occasionally we can"t and that is when the hearing aid is going to be put on the metaiod bone so that we can stimulate the cochlea. This is where we come with the hearing aids and such because these problems cannot be remediated. Word recognition score (wrs: not threshold - measures how well speech can be discriminated when it is heard, stimuli: 50-word lists that are phonetically balanced, carrier phrase- phonetically balanced lists of one syllable words: Based on how the tm performs with the sounds: fluid in middle ear, stiffness of ossicular. Acoustic reflex: measures reflexive contraction of the middle ear muscles in response to high intensity signal (about 85 db hl normal hearers) The ear can tighten its muscles in the middle ear in order to save us from some degree of loud sounds.
