Are there fundamental differences in ways men & women communicate: men: see the world as a place of hierarchies. Therefore they may interpret your comments as challenges to their positions, and go into defense mode: women: see the world as a network of interactions. Their goal is to form connections and avoid isolation. Content vs. process: what we argue about vs. how we agree. Passive aggression: expressing anger in a passive way. Forgetting, not doing something you"d normally do, silent treatment, etc. Jealousy vs. envy: envy: narcissistic people, someone having something i wish i had, jealousy: potential loss, a threat to you; builds up, and we adjust to it. Talk table couple"s communication exercise, designed to intent vs. impact; if communicate to partner rate yourself on what you"re about to say and say it and then partner rates. This is to regulate interaction via nonverbal communication how your nonverbal let the other person know where you"re at.
