Outcomes -> comparison level for alternative (clalt) = dependence. Degree to which one relies on a relationship for outcomes. Current situation may not ideal but it is better in compared to another situation. If you are in a really satisfying relationship, your expectations are going to go up. Our expectations can grow. (better alternatives out there) Expectations vary, rewards staying constant, comparison fluctuating, better outcomes (rewarding) but can report the same amount of satisfaction in a relationship. Someone in a relationship to where they see their alternatives as worse, then that could be a sign of abusive relationship. The subject experience of dependence: closeness, attachment, loyalty, obligation. The more satisfied you are in your relationship, then you should feel more committed. The investment model says there is always alternatives (dating other people, dating no one) it"s not just saying there is others out there, but it is asking the question of if the alternative is available to you.
