A lot of preparation is explaining and describing things. Teaching coping skills is an important part of child life. Coping skills and self-care are important aspects of working as a child life specialist as well. Coping skills are important not only for children that are patients but siblings and parents. Child life works with children with developmental and intellectual disabilities as well as their families. There is no minimum age for a child to be able to receive child life care. Child life can be expanded to many very different aspects of family-centered care.
