Who Is at Fault?
Difficult to blame sources even though they are morally and ethically wrong when they lie.
It is our job as reporters to dig deeper and verify the truth.

Was Erdely inexperienced? No.
What reporting Challenges did she face?
What was her central dilemma?
She thought she had her hands on a huge story, so she went with the source without ever questions their
legitimacy.
Mistakes came when the reporter had a preconceived notion about a story that led her to error.
Everyone with a dog in the fight deserved a voice in her story.
Felt the need to get the story out quickly because she had this preconceived subject for her reporting and

Verification was main problem, too dependent on single source.
