For this paper, i interviewed with chris gallegos, a 21-year-old, white male who was born in. Austin, grew up in east texas and currently attends austin community college. Chris was raised by his mother and father until the age of 11 at which time his mother passed away, leaving him with his father (the manager of home depot), younger sister, and twin sister. He went to public school for elementary, middle, and high school, and worked multiple jobs before coming to university. Chris and i are from extremely different backgrounds with different ideas of success and different family types. He grew up in the deep south with a single father figure and very few other family members, while i grew up in the northern suburbs with a mother, a father, and lots of cousins. While chris is white and grew up in a predominantly white area, i am asian (american-indian) and grew up in a multi-cultured area.
