Stress management addresses: factors generating stress (stressors - outside things) How you think about stress, how you make meaning of what"s happening, levels of motivation when facing stresses (alters stress response biochemically based on how you"re cognitively thinking about it) Ex: smoking and drinking to reduce stressbut they typically reduce their overall ability to deal with stress. Ways of perceiving and responding to targeted stressors. Biopsychosocial - don"t neglect the three levels of analysis. All elements have reciprocal relationships functioning and overall levels of stress and stress management. Coping = anything you do to manage or reduce your stress. Neither form of coping is better than the other. When you can"t change the thing causing the problem change how you deal with it.
