The massacre at mystic was a pivotal day for u. s history because, it reflected the relationship between the. Europeans and indians and the shift of powers that occurred overnight. Due to the harsh relationships between the indians and europeans, the idea of mistreatment and injustice came to play. This type of thinking was settled within these europeans as they moved west across the continent as well. The idea of manifest destiny was used to justify their claim on the native"s land and their destruction as they expanded west. When the colonists won the massacre at mystic, the power from natives to settlers shifted almost overnight. This massacre clearly defined that there was no hope for colonists and indians to coexist. The brutal actions of the puritans were not just a signal for the pequot but for all the tribes that existed. It was a signal for their power and dominance.
