Business associate of his had son arrested on state drug charges. Ba asked federal judge to call state prosecutor to convince him to drop charges jail. Judge nixon lied to grand jury about situations like this, commits perjury, goes to. Doesn"t resign from his post, only way to get rid of him is by impeachment. Gets paid for being a judge while in prison: politically, not a very good thing. Congress decides to act, tries to impeach him. A person can only be impeached by 2/3 vote from the senate. Senate committee hears case against nixon instead of it going to the house. Senate then votes on recommendation instead of hearing the case. All done to save time as nobody wants to spend the time to go through the impeachment. Nixon claims that this is against his due process. Didn"t get tried against the entire senate.
