Probably more to do with content than time frame: more to do with the content of what is going on right now. Seems to come about in early/mid 20th century. Called into question the success of liberalism. Christianity came in later, big con ict between reason and faith: how much should we base society on scripture vs reason, medieval times are still considered ancient political philosophy, these two things are in con ict a lot. Big break with machiavelli, lots of criticism of socratic thought: he says plato is stuck in the clouds, dreaming of imaginary republics, gives a low and solid teaching instead. Early modern political philosophers: hobbes, locke give a lot of in uence to american philosophy, thinking of people as individual agents, more concern of self interest. If everyone looks out for their own self-interest, we will all be better off.
