Nj law allows for transportation of students to public and private schools. If there was a fire at the school, the government would still send a firetruck. Lots of catholic schools take advantage of this. >90% of vouchers were given to catholic school student. 5-4 decision that was heavily criticized by dissenters. You can"t have total separation of church and state. Just providing safe transportation of students to schools. Governmental interest to prevent children from being run over while going to school. Not a benefit to the religion, a benefit to the child. One of the most important ideas in establishment. Government can give aid to children even though it can"t give it to a religion. So long as the bill is open to all religious schools, it is constitutional. No forced church attendance or profession of faith. Public schools attempt to have an official prayer. Non-denominational prayer, but assumes existence of monotheistic god.
