Hampshire are first (and just happened to be this way) and have used this to their advantage like punishing candidates for not coming to their state like if another state schedules their primary before one of these two. Super tuesday when 10 or so states have their primary on the same day. They met in their home states to avoid electioneering, no politics. There can be issues with representation of the people, they are more educated and possibly better off, so the less educated and poorer are less represented: presidential elections are different from senatorial or local elections Caucuses in all 50 states: primary process to pick the nominees. There were no primary elections, party apparatus picked the candidates. the political parties. To take the power away from: main purpose is to pick delegates who will attend the convention, caucus vs. primary and pick the nominees.
