Document Summary
4 types of studies in psychology: descriptive studies: Studies in which we describe a phenomenon by observing or recording what is going on. In depth analysis of an individual or a few individuals. Syrian refugees in greece: the moment americans start to care is when it gets personal. Observe individuals in their natural environments, record behavior. Surveys: ask individuals about their behavior, or the behavior of others (give them a questionnaire) How much sleep do school children get at night: correlational studies. When we systematically collect data on more than one variable, we can then analyze those variables to see whether there is a relationship between them. A correlational coe cient tells us how strong the relationship between the variables is. It tells us how well we can predict one variable, given the other variable. A positive correlation indicated that the variables increases or decrease together. A negative correlation indicated that when one variable rises, the other galls.
