Document Summary

Lecture 9- exam 3 lecture 2 (protein synthesis part 2) Slide 37- f meth trna only goes through p site no other trna can enter. Slide 39- shine dalgarno sequence upstream of aug, 5"utr not translated into protein. Slide- 41-the a site is where new amino acids keep getting added, nothing will enter the p site again after that start codon and f meth. Slide 42- aa in p site is transferred to aa bound to trna in a site. The ribosome then jumps 3 nucleotides to add the next aa in the chain. The trna can then go into the e site to leave. Covalent bond forms between the two aa and then forms a chain. Slide 44- the synthesis of the peptide bound is catalyzed by the peptidyl transferase, which is the 23s rrna of the large subunit. Elongation continues until stop codon in a site occurs.
