*extra credit exam- wednesday dec 7th 7pm-8pm (helps you to transition to another letter grade. ) Nothi(cid:374)g happe(cid:374)s if you do(cid:374) t take it, it will be added to the final grade. *5 regular exams and 1 extra credit exam. Antigen presenting cells (innate immune system) capture the antigen in the infected tissue and migrate to the lymph nodes. In the lymph nodes, antigen presenting cells activate lymphocytes (antigen presentation + cytokines) Lymphocytes migrate to infected tissue to destroy the pathogens. Slide 67- there is a functional cross talk between the innate immune response and the adaptive immune response. The adaptive immune response will then respond via cell mediated immunity or antibody mediated immunity. Specificity- have the receptor to react to the epitope (directed against a unique molecular antigen (epitopes)) Memory- capacity to respond more quickly after reencounter with the antigen, what we create with a vaccine the same way with an infection.
