Thursday, january 25, 2018: start with a quote, make a startling statement, refer to the audience or the occasion, use humor. Credibility: demonstrate competence, earn the trust of your audience, emphasize similarities with the audience, prove that you have something important to say. Organizational patterns: topical- by topic, chronological- by time, causal- cause and effect, narrative- tell a story.
