Document Summary

The study of the way individuals thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by others. Attribute causes to either situations or dispositions. When explaining others behaviors we tend to focus on disposition over situation. Ex. if someone is being mean attributing that to the fact that they are an overall rude person rather than attributing it to the fact that they just had a bad day. When explaining your own negative behaviors you tend to view it situationally rather than dispositionally. Ex. if you were rude saying it was because you had a bad day not because you"re a mean person overall. Threat of isolation can promote unhealthy behaviors. Stress cooperation and attaining family and work group goals. More prone to self-effacing bias ( success is due to the help you"ve. Become maladaptive when they are blind or unquestioning. We seek to evaluate our beliefs and attitudes by comparing reactions to others.
