Care based morality helping those in need (more common in girls), avoid violence and consider those most valuable. Justice-based morality view the world as being composed of autonomous individuals who interact with others, everyone is responsible for themselves (fairness and most common in boys) Biological evolutionarily we have morals, genetic heritage, brain areas, and justice, reduce selfishness, reciprocity. Psychoanalytic freud, superego and guilt, induction, empathy-based guilt, morality would not exist if we did not adopt it based on societal norms, internalization (uniquely yours) Social learning modeling moral behavior, competence and power, parents model warmth, models are most influential in early years, more independent with age. Cognitive-development children as active thinkers about social rules, construct their own worlds at own pace. Selfless service to needy, community, country (duty to each other) Natural selection fostered altruism (making sacrifice and helping group) In times of prosperity there will be more selfishness.
